What to Do if You Aren't Feeling the Effects of Delta 8?
It doesn't happen often, but new users sometimes find that the feeling of Delta 8 simply isn't what they expected. Sometimes first-timers claim they don't feel the effects of THC at all. What drives this disparity between expectation and active experience, and what can be done to correct it?
Increase Dosage
Just simply increase your dosage. It’s the first and easiest solution to deal with the problem. Take whatever dose you started with and double it. Increasing your Delta 8 intake will enhance the potency and duration of the effects, and should help you reach your desired point of relief. For example, if half a gummy isn't doing the trick after 90 minutes, consider taking the other half. Most of the time doubling your dosage will be more than enough to get the job done.
Manage Expectations
Another common source of disappointment arises when users take Delta 8 and expect it to reflect the familiar effects of cannabis. Cannabis is fueled by the cannabinoid delta 9 THC, and, while it is closely related to Delta 8 in many ways, the two offer fundamentally different experiences. Delta 8 is only about half as potent as its better-known cousin, and brings a profile that is typically soothing and uplifting.
If you try Delta 8 expecting the effects of delta 9, you will likely feel that you aren't taking an appropriate dose. Delta 8 is milder and should be understood as such. Knowing and managing your expectations will help prevent disappointment on the first try. But keep in mind that if you're new to the THC world, the effects of Delta 8 may still be very strong. Only those who have used delta 9 are likely to be thrown off by the lower potency.
Change Products
Not all Delta 8 products affect the body in the same way. Each is absorbed and processed in a different area, so things like vape cartridges can feel very different from edibles.
If one product doesn't have the desired effect, consider switching to a different product type. Even if your friends swear by a specific product, you probably won't have the same experience. Everyone is different, so it's crucial to try a range of options before picking your favorite.
If you've tried a vape cart and want something similar, consider trying a tincture. Both act faster than food and both are absorbed by soft tissues, in the lungs and mouth respectively. Edibles are also a great option as they are the longest lasting and stronger option available.
